In order to know about esports games, we must rewind to the 1970s. That is the year when the roots of esports games originated. The first official esports video game was launched on October 19, 1972, at Stanford University. The game is related to a war in space, named Space War. 

The students of the university are invited to play the game and the award was announced as a one-year subscription to the famous magazine “Rolling stone.” Then, in 1980, Atari held a game called Space invaders. It is marked as one of the biggest steps for opening the doors to enable esports games into the world. It attracted around 10000 players, and the talk started spreading across the world.

It started being a popular culture in the 1980s and after the booming of the internet, esports games experienced phenomenal growth. In the 1980s, other companies started making their own video games. Pac man, Donkey Kong came into the world of esports games and became famous in no time. Getting a high score in a game used to be taken as Guinness world records. Of course, there is no such rule now. 

A company called Nintendo Entertainment System started making advancements in-game graphics and accessibility. It was promoted extensively with significant promotions. The company started expanding its market in other countries too by conducting tournaments worldwide. 

It has made a clear way to explore esports games, which can be referred to as a significant step in the growth of the esports gaming industry. Games like counterstrike, Warcraft made their presence in the 1990s and became widely popular and. An event called The Red Annihilation took place in 1997. It allowed around 2000 players across the globe to play a game and face each other.

In the 2000s, with the start of generation-z, due to advancements and accessibility of technology, the esports market started exploding and now it is a huge market with an audience of around 250 million, which is not a small number. A company called Twitch started broadcasting various popular esports games. 

It has made esports games accessible to everyone including gamers and spectators. It is not just a game; it is also a career for many people and a possibility to earn good money while betting on esports. Every year, there are thousands of games that are entering the market to test the game’s fortune. Esports gaming is now becoming a part of life.
